2012 Maya / ET documentary backed by major Hollywood players... and Vatican?

 UPDATED: 26 Jan. 2012

Oh dear. It looks like "producer" Raul Julia-Levy's dreams of "shaking the world" with his much-hyped documentary may never be realised. Because Raul Julia-Levy may not be Raul Julia-Levy at all, but rather a con man by the name of Salvador Alba Fuentes. For details, see:

Los Angeles-based producer Raul Julia-Levy has told The Hollywood Reporter that his upcoming 3D documentary, Revelations of the Mayans 2012 and Beyond, will reveal “the most important archaeological finding in the history of mankind” and prove beyond doubt that the Maya had contact with extraterrestrials.

Announced in August last year, the much-hyped documentary is a collaboration between archaeologists, scientists and the governments of Mexico and Guatemala and allegedly draws on previously classified government documentation dealing with the Maya and 2012.

Unsurprisingly, the documentary has become the subject of fervent speculation and debate in the UFO and New Age communities. But many commentators are viewing with suspicion the fine print of Julia-Levy’s description of the project, suggesting that the documentary may turn out to be little more than a savvy marketing campaign for the tourism ministries of the Mexican and Guatemalan governments.

In October 2011, Antonio Huneeus, writing for OpenMinds.TV opined:

“It seems to me that this story has much more to do with PR hype by the film producers and by Mexican authorities wishing to promote tourism in the wake of mounting expectations about the end of the Mayan calendar in December 2012, than to a real program of disclosure. What we know for sure is that the documentary... is sponsored by the Mexican Ministry of Tourism’s Mundo Maya (Mayan World) Program, although its financing comes from American sources”.

Just who these “American sources” are is still a mystery, though producer Julia-Levy has insisted to The Hollywood Reporter that the documentary’s financial backers and distributors are “major” Hollywood players. He also claims his documentary will feature an underwater Maya city, a millennia-old landing pad once used for spacecraft, and evidence of ancient human contact with extraterrestrials.

Julia-Levy describes the alleged underwater city as “a city that was built under water, and not a sunken city,” and claims it was found at the bottom of a lake in Guatemala. He says footage of the underwater city will feature in the documentary. Additionally, the producer claims his film will reveal “a 3,000-year-old spacecraft landing pad that was allegedly built atop a rock structure capable of holding electromagnetic energy.”

Raul Julia-Levy told Pijama Surf that this image represents a teleportation machine, a time machine or some kind of technological artifact, this according to a report he received from Guatemalan archaeologists.

If all this weren’t intriguing enough, in a new twist, Julia-Levy claimed last week that he was recently contacted by the Vatican. In a telephone conversation with the Pijama Surf website, Julia-Levy said he had received official communication from the Vatican spokesman, Federico Lombardi, who has requested a meeting with him about the documentary.

Julia Levy told Pijama Surf that, although excited by the Vatican’s interest, he is proceeding with caution due to what he views as the Catholic Church’s historical secrecy surrounding the UFO issue. Nevertheless, he believes the Vatican is acting in a spirit of cooperation and hinted that it may even furnish his production with information from its own murky UFO files.

Revelations is set to begin production in February in the jungles of Campeche, Mexico, at the Maya ruins of Calakmul. It is at this site, claims Julia-Levy, that the documentary’s most shocking secret will be revealed. Just what this secret is, he won’t say, but he claims it is nothing less than "the most important archaeological finding in the history of mankind,” adding “It's going to open the eyes of humanity and elevate the consciousness of every human being on the planet. I guarantee it."

An official announcement of the project is due in the coming weeks and a provisional release date has been set for August. Originally, the acclaimed Mexican director Juan Carlos Rulfo (Those who Remain) was onboard to helm, but conflicting schedules with his other film projects recently forced him to pull out. He has yet to be replaced.

So, is Revelations a major step towards Disclosure, or merely an ambitious attempt at boosting Mexican and Guatemalan tourism in the historic year of 2012?

For now, all we have is the word of Raul Julia-Levy. He insists that his documentary shows a deep respect for Maya culture and that its impact will be global:

“The problem with most of the productions going on now that are related to the Maya theme is that they're doing them in an erroneous and irresponsible manner... This documentary is going to shake the world.”

  1. Could someone open the windows, please? Because this is starting to smell like crap.

Ever since I read about this story on the web —which is where it has mainly been disseminated, since I have yet to see an official release by the Mexican government, and the only big newspaper that has carried the story is Milenio— I sensed there was something very phony about it.

Here's a recent official bulletin released by the Tourism Secretary, discussing the Mundo Maya program intended to attract visitors this year (use Google Translate), nowhere can one find the name of Raúl Julia Levy.

Here's a video released by the government in order to promote the Mayan archaeological sites. Where are the spaceports and the teleportation machines?

Doing a search on the Sectur website, the only match for "Raúl Julia Levy" was this PDF document, where one can only find a Xerox copy of a newspaper article mentioning this fantastic documentary.

I don't want to sound like a raging debunker here, but frankly this whole thing reeks of a cheap publicity gimmick pulled by Julia Levy.

I am fully aware that the Mexican government is very interested in exploiting all the 2012 Doomsday craze that's been buzzing around the world —if crazy Gringos wanna come down here and party before the world goes kaboom, the tourist industry will be more than happy to take their dollars— but I seriously doubt any ground-breaking Ancient Astronauts revelations will be officially endorsed by the government. I might be wrong, and let me assure you, I would be the first one to be glad that I was!

Oh, and in case you're curious about that 'Mayan underwater city', I can actually disclose to you where it is: Lake Atitlan, Guatemala. My Pleiadian senses predict that somehow 'Atitlan' is going to be morphed into 'Atlantis' in this documentary ;)

    1. Thanks for this, Miguel. Really useful info.

My feeling on the documentary is that it's probably not as phony as many people already believe. Which is to say it may well have received a certain amount of govt support and probably will contain some 'revelatory' info.

I seriously doubt, however, that its impact will be as significant as the producer is suggesting. I really hope I'm wrong, but this whole thing has echoes of the Ward Kimball and Bob Emenegger cases - both of which were failed/aborted attempts at 'Disclosure through documentary'. Assuming this project is legit, will it have more success than those that came before it? Time will tell.

      I'm withholding judgement for now...

  2. Yes, it will be interesting to see what happens.

I just don't see the Mexican government jumping in the Ancient Astronaut bandwagon, you know? Some people have this impression that our government is much more progressive in the subject of UFOs than the US or the UK, because of that infrared footage taken by an Air Force plane that seemed to have caught something anomalous, and was later submitted to Jaime Maussan for analysis. But that was a one-off!

The Mexican government's #1 priority right now is the war on drugs. #2 priority is bringing Foreign Inve$$tment. That's. It.

I mean, they are preparing right now for the visit the Pope is going to make later in the year. Do you think the Pope is going to reveal that Quetzalcoatl and Jesus Christ are one and the same, and that Yahweh was an ancient alien with an obsession with hygiene?? Methinks not :P

    1. Well, who better to reveal to the Catholic world that Quetzalcoatl and Jesus Christ are one and the same than the Pope! ;)

"The Mexican government's #1 priority right now is the war on drugs. #2 priority is bringing Foreign Inve$$tment. That's. It."

Sure, those are its public priorities - and serious priorities they are too, but who knows what else is going on behind the scenes? During their Presidencies, the likes of Truman and Ike claimed their most pressing defense concerns stemmed from the Red Menace. Today we know these guys had much bigger (and more technologically advanced) fish to fry than Commies.

    2. People in government are human, too. One really can't say if they are not also as interested in these mysteries as we are. You have a point, amigo :)

PS: Incidentally, it seems that at least *one* President of Mexico had the opportunity of observing a UFO. It was Luis Echeverría Alvarez, he was in Cuernavaca along with his wife and Amalia Hernández a famous ballet choreographer, when they observed a bright long elongated object suspended in the sky, just before the city suffered a blackout. This was told by Pedro Ferriz, the father of Mexican Ufology.

    3. I don't see why the Mexican gov't cares a hoot about the drug trade, so long as they get their cut from the cartels and keep the CIA supplied with their cut.

  3. Hollywood generally responds to the market... that is, to provide material that the public will pay to see. The current trend towards things like 2012 and ET and UFOs is no secret to anyone. That Hollywood might produce a sensationalist movie on the subject should be expected. And if along the way they could rein in the assistance of one or two national governments who might also see a chance to profit from the venture, all the better. The goose is now both cooked and sauced. Pass the gravy please.

    1. Hollywood is a TOOL for the Illuminati, they use said tool to inoculate people, to form thought patterns, to modify culture and poison our society. They use Hollywood to make money, sure, but ultimately their major gain resides in other endeavors, which movies help to move forward.

This entire 2012 ordeal is basically one huge distraction, to shift focus away from TRUE prophesy which is found in the Bible. Prophesies from Nostradamus and the Aztec predictions are vague at best and inaccurate. People need to realize this whole 2012 hype, comes from a bunch of cannibalistic, elitist, murderous Aztec natives who ran out of space on a stupid stone. If they were contacted, it was by transdimensional entities and not guys from a distant star. These entities are mentioned in the Bible as deceiving spirits, fallen angels and demons.

This Aztec serpent god of theirs is no other than Lucifer pulling another one of his lies.

Looking for revelation and truth? READ THE BIBLE.

    2. Not a distraction, but a mental conditioning to promote acceptance of the coming man-gods who serve the fallen. All who look forward to ET and UFOs will become servants and pets of these self glorified gods. The Vatican, and entities of governments along with the light bulbs are the biggest suckers of all, falling prey in the end to the fallen liars.

  8. It's not one article, it's many. Google the guy. He seems to have been in and out of court these past few years. Doesn't look good. But I agree, that's not necessarily grounds to dismiss out of hand his claims about the Maya 2012 documentary. Let's not throw out the baby with the bathwater here. I'm currently investigating this case in more detail and will do a follow-up post in a few weeks. It's certainly intriguing...
