'The Host': new trailer and poster for body-snatching alien movie

Open Road Films has released the new trailer and poster for Andrew Niccol's The Host, the big screen adaptation of Stephenie Meyer's novel starring Saoirse Ronan, Max Irons, Jake Abel, Diane Kruger, William Hurt and Frances Fisher.

Here’s the official blurb:

“The Host is a riveting story about the survival of love and the human spirit in a time of war. Our world has been invaded by an unseen enemy. Humans become hosts for these invaders, their minds taken over while their bodies remain intact. Most of humanity has succumbed.”

The Host hits cinemas March 29, 2013.

Read the book 3 times,a real thriller. Can't wait to see the movie.

Though I'm probably skipping this one 'til it comes out on DVD, I can't stop thinking on how it reminds me of The Mothman Prophecies.

Specially since it explores the idea of non-human intelligences taking possession of human hosts, an idea some suggest would explain the fringier MIB encounters.

Robbie Graham's Working Definition:

Any movie that taps directly into any aspect of UFO mythology or notably draws inspiration from UFOlogical literature, incorporating into its plot references to frequently debated UFOlogical phenomena, events and locales, as well as specialised UFOlogical terminology.

A UFO movie need not be about UFOs, per se, nor feature traditional UFOlogical iconography, but will nevertheless often devote a respectable amount of its running time to the dramatisation of imagined human/alien interactions, usually - though not always - in the context of a 'first contact' scenario in which the extraterrestrials assume the role of visitor/invader. In other words, the UFO movie frequently is concerned with the problems inherent from a human perspective in earthly encounters with extraterrestrials.
